The E 300 BlueTEC HYBRID is one of the thriftiest models in its vehicle class with a system output of 150 kilowatts from the diesel engine and 20 kW from the electric motor, a combined consumption of 4.2–4.1 l/100 km and CO2 emissions of only 110–107 g/km.

Quiet, relaxed cruising on long trips: The internal combustion engine can be switched off when coasting at speeds below 160 km/h. This can substantially cut both fuel consumption and emissions. The technical term for this highly efficient and enjoyable form of travel could not be more apt: Sailing.
With the additional "Sailing+" function which can be manually activated using the steering wheel gearshift paddle, consumption can be reduced even further. Energy recovery keeps it to a minimum.The internal combustion engine stays switched off.
Using the power of both drive units, the boost function can add significantly to dynamism when accelerating. And the lithium-ion battery located in the engine compartment means that vehicle occupants aren't restricted when it comes to boot capacity.
